The Northern Star Group, an organization engaged in the retail and commercial and industrial distribution of fuel, energy and convenience products, recently handed over donations of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Chinese General Hospital in Manila and the Ospital ng Santa Cruz in Sta. Cruz, Zambales.

“During this difficult period of the COVID-19 pandemic, we believe that it is our responsibility to assist the national and local governments in ensuring the health and safety of our countrymen,” the Company said in a statement.

The donations consisted of N95 face masks, surgical masks and Hazmat suits.

“Medical frontliners are sacrificing their lives to save those of others,” Northern Star said. “We hope that this modest donation will help keep the staff in Ospital ng Sta. Cruz and Chinese General safe as they fight the spread of the COVID-19 virus.”

The Company is looking at extending help to other medical institutions within its areas of operation across the Philippines.

Northern Star has put in place various initiatives as early as mid-February that served as the foundation of an Isolation Work Arrangement (IWA) for its own employees. It seamlessly transitioned almost 100% of its workforce to IWA while maintaining the same level of employee output by providing work tools, transparent and timely information, and financial and health assistance in the form of advance payment of salaries, essential PPE and vitamin supplements. It is now focused on gathering, evaluating and using current and incoming information to plan the courses of action to meet all possible post-ECQ and post-pandemic business scenarios.
