Northern Star obtained ISO Recertification from TUVRheinland, a global leader in independent inspection services, founded 145 years ago and headquartered in Germany.
The Surveillance Audit was held on December 14, 2020 via Microsoft Teams and focused on verifying adherence to the ISO 9001 Quality Management System. Utilizing random sampling by an appropriately selected audit team, an assessment was made on the compliance of workflows with standard requirements and the descriptions in the management system documentation. The special features of the organization’s business activities, the applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, and the requirements set forth in other generally applicable documents were also taken into account.
The review resulted in zero major and minor nonconformity issues. The Audit Team cited, among others, Northern Star’s initiative to provide employees Vitamins C, D, and Zinc during the Covid-19 pandemic; extended work from home arrangements that facilitated the transfer of needed equipment to support remote working; and the increase in the number of businesses of current clients served, particularly by the Commercial and Industrial Team.
The Auditors also noted that Customer Satisfaction, monitored through effective Quality Management System implementation, is very evident even with the current challenging situation. Highly commended were the following accomplishments: For Retail, the opening of six additional newly constructed retail stations and acquiring Eastern Laguna as an additional retail territory; for C&I, the acquisition of 13 new customers and the initiative to continuously improve the system through the implementation of a new customer relationship management concept to supplement the existing risk management process; for QMS, for utilizing the “Effivity System”, a platform used as a repository of process procedures and other documented information; and for Strategic Marketing and Communications, for taking the lead in the coordination of various employee and corporate social responsibility programs aimed at protecting and motivating the staff and helping the communities where Northern Star operates deal with the Covid-19 crisis.
