NORTHERN STAR GOES SOLAR

Northern Star Energy Corporation continues to live up to its mandate of moving lives forward – the environment-friendly way — with the installation of solar panel systems to power several of its key Caltex service stations.

Solar panels designed to cover the minimum consumption of the station by generating at least 2.5 megawatts per year were recently installed at Caltex Pasig 4 along Sandoval Avenue in Pasig City. First implemented at Caltex Rosario 2, in La Union, the system will be applied henceforth to all Northern Star service stations built from 2020 and beyond. Next in line to get the solar panels will be Caltex Bauang 1 and Naguilian 1, La Union; Caltex Pasig 5 Eusebio; Caltex Las Pinas 1 Pamplona and Caltex Tumauini 1 Isabela.

Northern Star service stations also only use the latest LED technology for lighting, effectively cutting energy consumption by more than half. The 150w LED lights are the equivalent of 350w to 400w Metal Halide or High-Pressure Sodium type traditional bulbs for the same brightness.

GO GRIDLESS Philippines Corp., a Manila-based solar and energy solutions provider, works with Northern Star to install a hybrid system incorporating batteries fitted in the stations to provide savings as well as backup power to key equipment during brownouts.
